History of Peru since 1980:
Peru from 1980, returned to democracy after the revolution in military. Unfortunately along with this came the terrorist threat, which he put the country through the next twenty years. Subsequent democratic governments of Fernando Belaunde and Alan Garcia could not respond adequately address this threat. But by mid 1990, under President Alberto Fujimori was able to contain the terrorist threat. This political regime ended in mid-2000 with a strong popular backlash and allegations of corruption. After the fall of this regime, established a transitional government headed by Valentín Paniagua. It called elections in 2001 in which Alejandro Toledo was elected.
